Vedavyasa. When Vichithraveerya died without a a successor to the throne of Hasthinapura, Sathyavathi, mother of Chithrangadha and Vichithraveerya by Sathanu asked her son Vedavyasa ( son throgh sage Parasara who got enchanted in her beuty while crosing a river, formed mist in the middle of the river and the union gave Vedavyasa. The sage by his power restored the kanyathwa of Sathyawathi/ Matsyagandhi who later became the queen of Hasthinapura by marrying King Santhanu. Her sons became king after Santhanu as his first son born of Ganga, known as Devavrrutha ( Bhisma) abdicated Kingship to pave way for his father Sathanu to marry Sathyavathi. ). Ambika, Ambalika were the wives of Vichithaveerya were sent to Vedavyasa. One of them closed her eyes during the union and a son was born without eyesight was Dhritharastra. One got blushed and pale during the union and the son born was Pandu.
