Thomas the Apostle, also called Judas Thomas, Doubting Thomas, or Didymus.
Thomas DID believe when Jesus was risen. He didn't believe when his friends TOLD him Jesus was risen. After Thomas saw the crucifixion scars on Jesus' body, and saw Him standing there breathing and palpable, he believed - thoroughly.
Because he preached Jesus, crucified and risen and coming again.
The apostle was Thomas also none as doubting Thomas. Because he did not believe the other apostles we they told him about seeing Jesus after the Resurrection. Then Jesus appeared to Thomas and asked him to put his fingers in the holes in his hands and put his hand in the hole in his side,
The apostle Thomas first failed to believe that the other disciples had seen Jesus after he was crucified. But as he refused to believe them, he is refered to as the doubting Thomas.
No as Paul never knew Jesus at all, the simple reason being that Paul the apostle came much later , after Jesus was crucified and he had also risen from the dead by then. Paul was called Saul in his early years.
Many would believe it to be so since an Apostle was one who had directly seen the risen Christ. Under this definition the office ceased when these men died.
Thomas
Believers in Jesus are usually called Christians because most of them believe that Jesus is the Christ, the risen Son of God.
The apostle referred to as "the twin" is Thomas. He is often called "Doubting Thomas" because of his initial skepticism about Jesus' resurrection until he saw Christ's wounds. Thomas is known for his declaration of faith upon witnessing the risen Jesus, affirming him as "My Lord and my God."
I believe he was fishing and Jesus told him to come with him.
