Who killed Jesus?

No one actually killed Christ. He was put through much agony but he know when His time was up for it is recorded in scripyure "Father into thy hands I commit my spirit" meaning he voluntarlily gave up the ghost, or his spirit to leave his body.

Christians believe that we did, though he actually could not have been killed without his consent (more on that below). The Bible says "He who knew no sin, became sin for me, that I could be made the righteousness of God." If we did not sin, Jesus would never have needed to come to earth to die on the cross for those sins.

Physically the Jews were under Roman rule and had no authority to kill anyone. The Romans performed the execution. Pilate found him innocent but offered the Jews a choice of one of two prisoners to be set free and then gave into the voice of the crowd and ordered him crucified.

According to the Bible, no one could have killed Jesus without God's approval, and Jesus' agreement, as Jesus stated at : John 10:17+18. So the Romans may have carried out the execution, on the demand of the Jewish leaders, but Jesus HIMSELF willingly surrendered his life in our behalf (Matthew 20:28), as prophesied (Isaiah 53:7) .

However, Muslims believe that Jesus -who is considered as one of their greatest prophets- never died, but he was raised alive into heaven and someone else took his appearance and was crucified instead.
