You bet it is! There is just something about giving that warms the heart and blesses the soul. When you receive, you get something that will eventually wear out, get lost, break, get stolen or otherwise be gone. When you give, you get something intangible that will never go away or get stolen, an inner satisfaction of helping others, the feeling of satisfaction that you did something good, a memory to look back on, etc. That might not mean much in a society that thrives on having lots of material things, but chances are when you give, you will receive in return. It might not be right away, but it will happen, so giving is blessed no matter how you look at it.

Then is only true if you give with a cheerful heart. To do that is a well kept secret known by a few, though it was openly said.

Yes. The spirit of giving, and helping is the best gift ever. Be a giver in God and put others before you. God gave us the best gift of all, attempt to pay him back by giving to his people.

These words of Christ are not recorded in the gospels as far as I know, but Paul heard them and recorded them in Acts:

I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20.35)
