See Genesis ch.12.

After God told him to "journey to the land that I will show you," Abraham immediately informed his family and disciples that he would be journeying at God's command. Most of them joined him, including his wife Sarah (Sarai) and his nephew Lot. They took their livestock too, in a journey that lasted many weeks. Avoiding the deserts of Syria and Jordan, they probably went north-northwest along the Euphrates, and then south not far from the coast of the Mediterranean, along the Fertile Crescent.
