Tabitha (which is Aramaic for 'Dorcas'), was a Christian woman living in Joppa, who was known for her "good deeds and gifts of mercy", often making clothing for needy widows. At one point, she got sick and died, and was resurrected by the Apostle Peter. This was the first reported resurrection by an apostle, which led many to become believers all aound Joppa.(Acts 9:36-42). (Both names, Tabitha and Dorcas, mean 'Gazelle').
"Tabitha" is the Anglicized name of a particular woman in the New Testament Biblical book, Acts of the Apostles. In the Spanish version, it is "Tabita."
There is no mention in the Bible of Titus marrying Dorcas Tabitha. Titus and Dorcas are separate individuals who are mentioned in different contexts in the New Testament. Titus was a companion of the Apostle Paul, while Dorcas was a charitable woman known for her good works.
Totally Tabitha was born on September 9, 1972, in New York City, New York, USA.
No, Tabitha (also known as Dorcas) was not the only person raised from the dead by Peter. In the New Testament, specifically in Acts 9:36-42, Peter raises Tabitha, but he is also known for raising a man named Eutychus from the dead in Acts 20:7-12. Both instances demonstrate the miraculous power attributed to Peter through faith.
Saint Tabitha is the patron Saint of tailors and seamstresses. In the time that the apostle Peter was preaching at Lydda she was a Christian living at nearby Joppa, known widely for her generosity and kindness. She died suddenly but Peter was sent for and he stood by her deathbed, saying "Tabitha, get up!". She awoke and got up, completely restored to good health. In some versions of the story her name is Dorcas - the Greek translation of the Aramaic Tabitha (gazelle).
