Judah was the fourth(4) son of Israel - a Hebraic people. He and his descendants are the recipient of the 'Sceptre' promise of the Savior of Mankind - Jesus Christ. His tribe was also tasked with keeping the Scripture perfectly intact and this is known as the 'Oracles of God' in the New Testament.

During the Babylonian captivity, the Southern Kingdom of Judah's populace became known as 'Jews' to their captors. This name has remained with them to this day.
