When the name Mary is found in The Bible it can sometimes be confusing especially because there are several women of that name often in the same passages. Take Mat 27:61 for example, "Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb."

In a few verses earlier in Matthew 27:56 "Mary the mother of James and Joseph" is given so the other Mary in verse 61 is the mother of James and Joseph.

According to Mark 16:1 Salome was another woman that visited the tomb with both Marys and to make matters more interesting Salome is called St. Mary Salome in the Catholic Encyclopedia.
