First of all it is not a stone, it is what Muslim's believe to be Allah's house on earth. They do not in any way believe he is inside it nor do they worship the Ka'ba.
The stone you're referring to was sent down from Allah (what western scientist perceive to be a meteorite) to pin point the exact place he wanted this house to be built. It is believed by Muslims that the House was built by Abraham and possibly his sons helped. The stone has no other relevance other than that. Having said, the stone i believe can be viewed in Mecca but am not totally sure. Now the Ka'ba is not to be worshipped by Muslims, but it is used to give direction in which all Muslims all over the world will pray in. And nothing more then this.
its their religion
Muslims never pray to the black stone at Mecca or to any being in the universe. They pray to only Allah (God in English) as the one and only one God with no son, no partner, no companion, and no associate. The black stone is only kissed by Muslims; if they can reach it; following the practice of prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The holy Kaba

It was a holy stone given to people by god which turned black by the number of hands that touched it which were sinned. It is also the site where the holiest man in Islam was buried inside. This stone is not worshipped but its the compass to which Muslims face to pray
It's Al- ka'ba.
