Some parts of the Muslim faith believe that non-Muslims are to be brought to the faith by any means possible, and some actively espouse terror and violence as legitimate tools.

When you consider the fact that the disenfranchised and disaffected are the easiest recruits to a new faith, you can create a very visible fanatic fringe very simply.

Even those who do not support violence have very different views from your average American. Men and women are not equal, not even close. Women seem to have more in common with slaves than partners, but many find this acceptable.

However, fanatics are not just Muslim, they come in all colors and religions.

There have been, and are, 'Christian' fanatics for hundreds and hundreds of years. From the nuts who claim that our soldiers are killed because 'God hates fags' to the Salem Witch Trials and the Crusades, 'Christians' have a long record of horrible acts; and, like the fanatic Muslims, all in the name of God.
