In the area where Charles V ruled as King, the various kings had ended the massive corruption in the Catholic Church a few years before he became king. In Protestant areas, only the Reformation ended the massive corruption in the church. The problems in the Catholic Church allowing the corruption did not end until the Council of Trent.
