Answer:
God never said John was the revealer.
God says: "THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST, which God gave unto Him, to shew unto His servants things which must shortly come to pass..." (Rev.1:1).
Jesus, then: "...sent and signified it BY HIS ANGEL unto His servant John: WHO BARE RECORD OF THE WORD OF GOD, and OF THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS CHRIST, and OF ALL THE THINGS HE SAW." (Rev.1:1-2)
John revealed nothing. He only recorded what he heard and saw in the vision the angel of Christ revealed to him.
Neither John, nor any other man is able to reveal the things that must shortly come to pass. Only Jesus Christ is qualified to do that.
"...I (John) SAW in the right hand of Him that sat on the throne (the Father in heaven) a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals... Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book..." (Rev.5:1-4).
"...Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof." (verse 5)
Jesus' Father made Jesus the Revealer... not John.
John who wrote Revelations is believed to have been a different John than the apostle. The writing between the two books (The Gospel of John and Revelations) is remarkably different than one another. And God did not necessarily choose John to write anything. He very well could have written Revelations all on his own. And Revelations wasn't divinely chosen to be in the Bible, nor were any of the books divinely chosen. The Council of Nicea chose what books would be included in the Bible and Revelations barely made it in by vote! And that's too bad. If it hadn't we wouldn't have kooky people today worried about the end of the world, 666 or even Hell. John was a recluse who lived in a cave and likely had mental problems.

The true God (Yahweh) revelations can be found in the entire book of The Bible. God is revealing Himself to people through the Scriptures. All the people need to do is read the Bible and be humble to learn His Words and obey His Commandments.
The Divine revelations were revealed to the prophet Muhammad PBUH through the angel Jibreel (Gabriel) PBUH too.
He wasn't. Revelations is not the word of God. John betrayed Jesus and God just as Judas did. Revelation is not from God. Read it and understand it. You will see the contradictions to what Jesus said and what God IS!
