For a number of reasons.
Jacob's mother Rivka made it clear that he wasn't to stay with Lavan forever (Genesis 27:45).
Jacob desired to return to his parents (ibid. 31:30). His beliefs and those of Lavan were not identical (see Genesis 31:53).
God told him to return to Canaan (Genesis 31:3).
Jacob knew that Lavan was liable to try to cheat him out of everything (Genesis 31:31 and 31:42), a fact which Lavan admitted (Genesis 31:43).
Jacob did not want his children to continue growing up in the environs of the idolatrous Lavan.
In the book of Genesis chapter 31 , Jacob is forced to flee as the sons of Laban felt that Jacob had taken their father Labans property . and laban was not in good terms with Jacob like he was before,. Then god told Jacob to return to the land of your ancestors and god would look after him.

Laban tricked Jacob into marrying Leah by giving her to Jacob instead of Rachel on their wedding night, as Jacob had intended. Laban did this by having Leah wear a veil and keeping her identity hidden until the morning, when it was revealed to Jacob that he had married Leah instead of Rachel.
Leah and Rachel were Laban's daughters. They both married Jacob.
Laban
Rachel married Jacob, she was Laban's daughter.
Laban changed Jacob's wages multiple times while working for him - specifically, he changed Jacob's wages 10 times as mentioned in Genesis 31:7.
His uncle, Laban. Jacob wished to marry Rachel and agreed to work for Laban seven years. Laban used a veil to pull 'a fast one', and gave him the older sister, Leah, instead. Jacob had to work ANOTHER seven years to get Rachel as well.
According to Genesis 27 and after, Jacob's father-in-law was Laban, who was also Jacob's uncle (his mother Rebekah's brother). I know your talking about the bible, but in Twilight Jacob's father-in-law will probably be Edward. LOL
Laban accused Jacob of stealing his household gods when he pursued him after Jacob secretly left with his family. He was angry not only about the departure but also about the supposed theft, believing that Jacob had taken these idols, which were significant to Laban's household and religious practices. Laban's accusations were heightened by the fear of losing both his family and his possessions. Ultimately, Jacob denied the theft, not knowing that Rachel, his wife, had indeed taken the idols.
In the Old testament Jacobs uncle was Laban (don't know the spelling) and he tricked him by making him marry Leah not Rachel.
There are a few Jacob's in The Bible, but probably the most well know is Jacob the son of Isaac. Jacob married Leah and her sister Rachel, who's father was Laban. Laban was not only the father in law of Jacob but he was also a brother to Rebekah, Jacob's mother.
