Why did Jesus want deciples?

Technically, Jesus did not "need" disciples. Any follower of Jesus was called a disciple. So Jesus actaully had several hundred desciples. Now in The Bible, the usual reference to disciple is actually the apostles. In the meaning, there were only 12 "disciples/apostles". The 12 Apostles were the "students" that Jesus taught so they could spread God's word (since there wasn't a Bible back then). Mattew, Mark, Luke, and John wrote their own books of the Bible based on what they witnessed and learned from Jesus.

Jesus said that he was the son of God, the savior of the world then it would make sense for him to start saving people that is, those who followed him or those he recruited if he believed that about himself.

Jesus needed men that He could teach His ways to and he needed them to carry on after He was crucified on the cross. If Jesus had no disciples His holy work would have gone no where. There would have been no one to tell the world about Jesus.

Jesus has disciples today to tell everyone about Him. They are called Christians, or Christ followers.

To teach them about himself and the "new covenant " He made through His death and resurrection

Jesus needed the disciples to be with him, and to spread the word of god later on, after Jesus died.
