Michael York narrated the 2010 Christmas Concert for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for a handful of reasons. He was asked to and had no other plans, so he accepted. He had done many religious things that year (including narrating an audio Bible) and thought it would be a good finale to the year. Also he enjoys the Mormon Tabernacle choir and as they originally began as a Welch choir he thought it would be nice to honor his Welch heritage by working with the choir.

Can a person purchase the Mormon Choir in VHS?

You should be able to purchase the Mormon Tabernacle Choir concerts on DVD, VHS, and CD from their website, www.mormontabernaclechoir.org. If that doesn't work you can try the Mormon (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) Distribution Center at www.ldscatalog.com, which will have some, but probably not all.

Who buys outfits for Morman tabernacle choir?

The outfits worn by members of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir during performances are owned by the choir (not the individuals) and purchased through funds the choir raises through sales of albums and concert tickets. The women's dresses are generally custom made although the men's suits are usually purchased. I am not aware of whose responsiblity it is to design, choose, or purchase the outfits.

Speech choir for Filipino work values?

A speech choir for Filipino work values could incorporate traditional Filipino values such as bayanihan (community cooperation), malasakit (empathy and concern), and sipag at tiyaga (diligence and perseverance). The performance can feature a series of speeches or recitations that highlight the importance of these values in the workplace and how they contribute to the success and harmony of an organization. Through creative delivery and synchronized movements, the speech choir can effectively convey the significance of these virtues in shaping a strong work ethic and fostering a positive work culture in a Filipino context.

Do Mormon Tabernacle choir members pay for their own individual overseas travel?

Members of the Choir are not required to pay for their own travel expenses during a national or international TOUR, however, there is a cost to bring a spouse or a guest. In the early years of the choir, large fund raisers and sponsors provided the necessary means to tour. In more recent years, CD and video sales have been able to cover the majority of these expenses. Most choir members incur ancillary costs to participate in a tour, and participate at great personal sacrifice. This includes taking time off of work (a minimum of 2 weeks, and often unpaid), extended time away from family (which may require child-care costs), and other personal expenses. From the official website: "The Choir has performed in concerts around the world and throughout the United States. They have traveled to places such as Russia, many nations in Europe, Brazil, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand. In 2003 the Choir kicked off the celebration of its 75th year of broadcasting with a tour of major musical festivals in the northeastern United States. Performance venues included Chautauqua, Wolftrap, Tanglewood, the Lincoln Center, and Boston's Esplanade on July 4th with the Boston Pops Orchestra." http:/mormontabernaclechoir.org/faq That said, since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 the Choir has not traveled outside of the United States and Canada regions due to safety concerns. For more information on the choir, and their touring, you may visit the official website http:/mormontabernaclechoir.org Be sure to check out the many informative and enjoyable video interviews of Choir members, staff, and music videos! http:/mormontabernaclechoir.org/pages/Videos

Is choir solemn?

No, quite the opposite. Choir is a great social and inspiring activity. I am currently in choir and we have jokes days and ridiculous dancing days. We also make up songs for fun. Choir is not all fun though either. It's a place of hard work. You just need to know how to balance the two. Choir also helps with emotions. If your feeling sad or angry sing that out in the song you are learning. It is very satisfying.
