Why did Satan question God?

According to God's Word, Lucifer, who was created perfectly, and who was given a high seat of authority within God's Government, became lost in his own self-importance:

"... thou art the anointed cherub that covereth... thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee... and thou hast sinned..." (Ezek.28:14-16).

The Bible says: "...sin is the transgression of the law..." (I John 3:4). The law, being the Ten Commandments.

Primarily, Lucifer, set himself above God... lusted after the throne of the universe... and attempted to obtain it for himself:

"...thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God... I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High..." (Isa.14:13-14).

"...and there was war in heaven..." (Rev.12:7).

Satan's rebellion was the result of "selfishness."

God had Satan leave him, because Satan wanted to be like God. Satan was a created being, he had a beginning, and he will have an end. It was wrong to be jealous of one who loves you and created you, and it is wrong to rebel against him. But Satan didn't just ask a question 'to learn'. So let's call this what it really is. Let's rephrase what the question really is: -- Why did Satan CHALLENGE God? See how the tables turned. Let's call it what it is; -- it was a challenge; but even worse, it was an 'accusation', -- dressed-up in the form of a question. Sneaky little devil he was.

Satan didn't come right out and call God 'stupid'. He didn't question God's intelligence. Satan questioned God's 'CHARACTER'; his MORAL Character.

Why? -- Because that's what selfish beings do. They go around accusing others. He knew enough about God, to know that God wouldn't kill him right away. Not with this moral issue hanging over God. If God killed him right away; what would the other angels think? Someone down the line would wonder if Satan might have been right.

But basically, Satan challenged God, because Satan developed 'selfishness'. He desired ' INDEPENDENCE' from God, and his requirements. He didn't want to be tied down to 'obeying' God any more. So he questioned; I mean: challenged -- the 'righteousness' of what God required of his creation.
