Why did gautama begin a search for truth?

because he understood that the life is full of sadness.. everything is like magic..it seems like everything is right and everything gives you happy but he understood that we all have to end up with sadness.. and he understood that the circle of life will continues...so he needed to escape from this circle.. for that he went searching for the truth..the truth to rid of all the fear and sadness.. that`s "Nirvana" :]

He wanted to find his answer [to how suffering is caused and how it can be prevented]. He left the kingdom and explored the outside world [since his father shielded him from sickness and poverty]. Along the way, Siddhartha Gautama was meditating under a tree when all of a sudden he found his answer. He later became a buddhist and shared his thoughts and ideas with others among him.

Because he was exposed to the suffering of sickness, old age and death, in as much as he saw them happening to others. He realised that suffering was inevitable and he started to look for an understanding; an antidote to the physical condition.
