The Bible does not tell us specifically, but in a number of places it mentions that the creation reflects God's glory and points to His infinite wisdom and power. This includes all the relevant laws of planetary motion. Some also believe that the universe, including the planets has been created in such a way as to defy evolutionary/materialistic explanations as to their origins. Some have even described the beauty of the planets of our solar system as a sign of God's artistry and cite Psalm 19:1 "The heavens declare the glory of God..."

God created heaven and earth to demonstrate his power, love, and glory, and to provide a place for humans to live and have a relationship with him.
