The Catholic Church, under the direction and leadership of Pope Pius XII, save more Jews than any other group or individual during World War II. Hundreds of thousands were saved, hidden in churches, monasteries, convents or given false documents so they could travel to safer locations. It is even said that Pius XII would disguise himself as a simple Franciscan friar at night and go into Rome to bring Jews back to the Vatican for safety. Much of the information about the Catholics not helping the Jews came about from a massive disinformation campaign waged by the KGB after World War II to cause a separation between the Jews and Catholics.

They do not die for their God, they die for the Church itself.
