the Hebrew's left cannan because they did not have enough rain or food.
Answer:
God brought WAR and their enemies, Assyria, against them and forcibly caused them to be removed from the "Promised Land" for their forsaking of their "agreement, pact" [covenant] with Him and the ways whereby He commanded them to conduct their lives:
"...they left all the Commandments of the Lord their God... Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel, and REMOVED THEM OUT OF HIS SIGHT: there was none left but the tribe of Judah [the Jews] only." (II Kings 17:16-18)
The Jews would also go the way of Israel some 130 years later, removed by Babylon when they, too, forsook God:
"...the Lord said unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before Me, yet My mind could not be toward this people: CAST THEM OUT OF MY SIGHT, and let them go forth... I will cause them to BE REMOVED into all kingdoms of the earth... Thou hast forsaken Me, saith the Lord, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out My hand against thee, and DESTROY THEE; I am weary of repenting." (Jer.15:1-6)
A "remnant" of the Jews from the Babylonian captivity were allowed to return to Canaan later, to be established for a time until the Messiah would come to be offered as the "Passover Lamb of God."
But, they were again scattered afterward by Rome. And the land remained desolate of God's people, until 1948, when another remnant of Jews returned to Palestine to establish the tiny Jewish nation of modern "Israel."
This latter day remnant... like the last one... will witness the second coming of the Messiah. Not as God's sacrifice this time... but as the King over all the earth, in Triumph, Power and Glory.
According to tradition, it was in 1522 BCE.

All Jews (aside from converts) are descended from the Hebrews of the Bible, who at one time lived in Canaan. Later many of them migrated to Europe.
The nation of Israel (ישראל)
In the past: Canaan. Today: Israel.
they moved to Egypt.
The Land of Canaan, which was west of the River Jordan. This included, among other cities, Jericho, Gaza, Sidon, and Jerusalem.
According to the Bible, all the Hebrew people who left Egypt died in the wilderness, apart from Joshua and Caleb. However, all their decendents are said to have gone to Canaan. However, a near consensus of scholars is reported to believe that there never was an Exodus of Hebrew people from Egypt, as described in the Bible. If the Hebrews did not leave Egypt under Moses, they did not go to Canaan.
Moses (משה) brought the people out of slavery, but no one "brought them out of Canaan"
The Canaanites (Though there is a school of thought that says the hebrews didn't fight the Canaanites, but that they WERE the canaanites.)
The land promised to the people was Canaan.
