The cross is a painful, and humiliating form of death. With a person's arms stretched out, it cuts of the ability to breathe easily. The person can push up with their feet to relieve the constriction a bit, only to tire and have to go back to hanging from their arms. They posted "King Of The Jews" above His head as a way to mock Him, and allow others to scorn Him.

He was crucified on a Friday, and the Jews had strict rules they followed about the Sabbath. The Sabbath for them began Friday night and went through the day on Saturday. They did not want to have to deal with Jesus on the Sabbath. After Jesus gave up his life, the soldiers ran a spear into His side to make sure that He was dead, and then took Him off the cross.

As there was not much time for preparations, a kind gentleman allowed the apostles to use his tomb to store Jesus' body until they could prepare His body properly. To make sure no one tampered with Jesus' body, guards were placed to protect the tomb.

On the third day, Jesus was resurrected.
