Because He came to fulfill a mission, it was a rescue mission, and it was motivated by His amazing love towards us, even though we are the ones that offended Him. To save you and I from our sin, the Son of God presented himself before the perfect justice of God, as a willing substitute, to take upon Himself the judgement and the punishment for sin on our behalf. John 10:17-18 - "Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father."The night before His crucifixion, while talking to His disciples, Jesus said in John 12:27 - "Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour. But for this cause came I unto this hour." He didn't fight back because that was the reason He came down here, that we might have hope, by believing in Him.
