It was not the peole in general who did not like Jesus, but the church leaders. There church leaders were teaching the of law of Moses. It was the lesser law whch God gave to the people when He found that they were not ready for the higher law. Remember the Golden Calf?
God gave unto Moses the lesser law until the higher law. which was in Jesus Christ would be given to them. The church leaders at the time Christ began to preach the higher law thought that this new and higher law was an affront to them and their old ways. It meant that they would have to give up their comfortable lives and live more humble lives. The people saw the sense in this and were ready for the change, not so the priests.
