In the account of the disciples walking to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35), it is said that "they were kept from recognizing him."
Here Luke is giving the explanation (that God had kept them from recognizing Jesus) for something that he did not think could be explained in the normal way.
The same can be assumed to have happened with Mary Magdalene (John 20:14), when she met Jesus in the garden.
The gospel of Mark in the second gospel chronologically, and he may not have been one of the 12 apostles, but he certainly had a spiritual walk with Jesus. His mothers house was the place the disciples met after Jesus' resurrection. Some believe it was her house the last supper was eaten in with Jesus and his disciples. If this is so, Mark probably did know Jesus personally while he was on earth.
It is resurrection scene of Jesus. compare it with resurrection of Julius Caesar and you know.
After the death of Jesus on the cross, Jesus told the disciples to look after her.
To know if his disciples were truly devoted to him and his Father and not to the sinful ways of this world.
He spent forty days after the resurrection with his desciples!
The 12 disciples (later called Apostles) DID receive the knowledge of Jesus Christ being the Son of God and the messiah. Read all four Gospels and the book of Acts so you can see that they did come to fully understand who Jesus was and why he came to earth to die for our sins and come to know the power of his resurrection. The other disciples (within the masses and crowds who were believers) also received the knowledge of Jesus. They took the Gospel message around the world and continue to do so today.
We know of from the Bible a couple of the trades of Jesus' disciples, and they were fishermen and there was also a tax collector (Matthew). Other than these trades we don't have much more information from the scriptures.
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.John 13:35
Architects do not know that Jesus resurrected from the dead. The fact of the resurrection is a matter of faith. If there were a "fact" their would be no faith.
Yes (for awhile) After Jesus' crucifixion Peter and some of the disciples were really disappointed. They went back to fishing. We know this for sure from the accounts in John's Gospel the last chapter. Jesus caught them in the act in a manner of speaking, after resurrection and they committed themselves again to following Him.
Not very much; but all you want to know about them you may find in the four gospels in the Bible.
This is not enumerated in the Bible. While the apostles are named and counted as 12, there are no references to how many disciples there were, although we do know they were not all men - the women were also disciples.
