If you mean 'lying like a log', Dandavat, that indicates total submission to God. But some may take a vow to cover the distance to the temple by rolling or going by body's length. Buddhists also do it. But that is not a common practice. Some would walk miles (150 or 200 miles) to the temple carrying water from River Ganges or other venerated rivers to bathe their deity. These people during the pilgrimage are known as water-carriers (kavariyas).
