Why do Religions use light?

Light is symbolic of the Light of Christ or the light of knowldge and truth. It is the opposite of darkness. Christ is the Light while Satan is nothing but darkness to light and truth. One may hear the saying "I have seen the light" meaning that one has a testimony of Christ and the truthfulness of the gospel. Coming into the Light is coming from ignorance to knowledge of the truth of all things. When one come to the Light of Christ one needs never fear the darkness again, for light banishes all darkness.

Religion is the pursuit and recognition of a spiritual reality that is outside the domain of human sight and understanding. We are born spiritually blind. We may have a conscientiousness of other realities other that time, space and matter, but we are not equipped to interact responsibly with it. In the spiritual domain there is a dark side, and the two are not compatible. (Note: Gen. 1:3,4).

While most all religions understand the implication of light, there is a difference in defining its source and purpose.

Christianity is the acceptance and practice of faith of an otherwise unknowable existence. We need spiritual light to see spiritual reality. The God of the Christian Bible is called the Father of lights (Js 1:17) and His Son calls Himself, "the Light of the world. " (Phil. 2:15). The third member of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit, enlightens believers with spiritual knowledge, wisdom and understanding, qualifying believers to share in the inheritance of the saints in light; having been delivered from the domain of darkness and transferred into the kingdom of Light in His Son.

I love what James says of the Father of lights; there is no variation, or shifting shadow in Him. No darkness in Him, no deceit or deception, no hidden agendas. He's up front with Who He is and what He's about, and what He expects from us. Its all good! Light is good

Many God-seeking humans of all religions have had very similar spiritual Visions of God where He is perceived as a bright, loving, transforming Light of Spirit Luminosity.
