The website of the International Coalition for Relgious Freedom states: "The 1979 Constitution of Peru provides for freedom of conscience and free exercise of religion. There is no state church, but the Constitution expressly recognizes the Catholic Church as an important element in the historic, cultural, and moral development of Peru.....The 1997 US State Department Report on Religious freedom says that conversion to other religions is respected and that missionaries are free to enter the country and proselytize." Therefore, there is freedom of religion in Peru. Related link: http://www.religiousfreedom.com/wrpt/Latam/peru.htm (ICRF Website)
