To ignore things that may affect their faith.

That makes no sense. They are ignoring God's words. There are many scriptures in The Bible that say true Christians are not under the law at all...no law of any kind. The church claims these scriptures mean the opposite to what they say, and will not discuss them. The church has its traditions, and will uphold them at all costs, even over the Bible.

.

Catholic AnswerIf you are referring to the Catholic Church, Catholics believe that the Catholic Church is what Our Blessed Lord founded to save all men throughout all time. That CHURCH wrote the Scriptures (The New Testament) throughout the first hundred years after Our Blessed Lord left His Church in charge. Then in the late fourth century, the Catholic Church, through Her pope and Bishops drew up the canon of Scripture. The Catholic Church CANNOT ignore any Scriptures, nor, for that matter, can any Scriptures not fit with Tradition. ALL Scripture came out of Tradition, and the Church, by its very commission from God must uphold both, which is why it cannot countenance the protestant heresies which ignore Tradition, and mutilate the Scriptures.

What do scripture and tradition reveal to us?

A:Scripture and tradition reveal what people believed in an earlier time in history. They may reveal some things of historical substance.Another answer:Jesus, speaking to those for whom the Scriptures were written, reveals that they abandon the Scriptures for the sake of keeping their own preferred traditions."...'You hypocrites! Isaiah was prophesying about you when he said, These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far away. Their worship is a farce, for they replace God's Commands [Scripture] with their own man-made teachings [traditions]. For you ignore God's specific laws and substitute your own traditions. Then He said, You reject God's laws in order to hold on to your own traditions." (Mark 7:6-9 NLT New Living Translation)To this day, although the ancient Scriptures are still with us and many people pay them "lip service" -- the equally ancient customs and traditions of the past pagan empires of man [the most popular of which revolve around the various observances and celebrations of the season changes] supercede and override the commands of the Scriptures in the hearts of most men.So, both Jesus Christ and the ways of modern society reveal that the observance of, and obedience to, the Scriptures has always taken a back seat to the observance and keeping of our traditions..Catholic AnswerScripture and Tradition reveal the Word of God (in other words, Jesus Christ) to us. Originally the entire revelation of God to mankind was given to the Apostles, who, later, as part of their teaching, wrote down what is now known as the New Testament. Both Sacred Scripture and Holy Tradition transmit in its entirety the Word of God which has been entrusted to the apostles by Christ the Lord and the Holy Spirit. Did Jesus change the word of God or people?

The word of God is unchanging. Christ taught the words of His father, but it was not Christs teaching alone which changed the hearts of the people, but the Holy Spirit, which is even a greater teacher than Christ. The Holy Spirit teaches the heart and the mind of a person. He confirms to a person the words of Christ as being true. It is the same as reading the scriptures, one may read them and accept them as being true, but one must have the Holy Spirit confirm to that person that they are indeed true. The feeling usually comes as a burning sensation within the breast, or a tingling. However it comes one cannot ignore the Holy Spirit has confirmed a truth unto them.

What Catholics use what to guide there faith?

All Catholics use the Catechism of the Catholic Church ( was written for the purpose of summarizing the essential and basic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.) They do claim their doctrines have sound Biblical support but that is not true since many of their doctrines are foreign to the Bible like Mary worship, prayers for the dead, the doctrineof Purgatory, worship of relics and images, the doctrine of the infallibility of the Roman Catholic Church, prayer beads (the Rosary), doctrine of the seven sacraments. The Catholic Church officially states that Church tradition is equal in authority to the Bible (I want to say not "equal" but "above" since they plainly ignore Scripture and change that which does not suit them hence they even changed God's Law). According to Jesus, Scripture is the line for measuring everything else. He judged religious traditions by comparing them to Scripture. When religious traditions contradicted Scripture, he condemned them. This shows very clearly that nothing is equal in authority to Scripture. The Bible stands alone as the standard by which all other things are to be judged.Catechism 80, 84, 86, 97

Where are the traditions of Ash Wednesday and Lent found in the Bible?

Like "Christmas" and "Easter"... Ash Wednesday and Lent are also neither found nor commanded by God for man to observe in His inspired texts. God's "Christ-centered" Holy Day feasts are recorded in Leviticus 23.The "holidays" that modern professing Christianity observes [like the four listed above] are all rooted in ancient, pagan custom and tradition that was adopted and adapted to the name of Christ when God opened the door to the Gentile nations."...'These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far away. Their worship is a farce, for they replace God's Commandments with their own man-made teachings.' For you ignore God's specific laws and substitute your own traditions. Then He said, 'You reject God's laws in order to hold on to your own traditions.' " (Mark 7:7-9 NLT New Living Translation)

How are protestants related to Catholics?

The first protestants were mostly Catholics in the sixteenth century who decided that the Church that Jesus Christ founded for their salvation was the Church that Jesus Christ founded for their salvation and so that dreamed up their own. To do that, they came up with a novel idea of basing it on the Bible Alone. As Jesus Christ founded His Church on Peter the Apostle, and his successors, and the other Bishops, they realized they had to come up with something different. As the New Testament of the Bible was written entirely by the Catholic Church and preserved entirely by the Catholic Church they had to reinterpret it and put a different spin on it. As it wasn't put together until the late fourth century, they had to ignore four centuries of Christian history. In short protestants are the latest in the long list of heresies that the Catholic Church has dealt with since the beginning: . The Catholic Church is nearly two thousand years old, there have been untold heresies which were religious movement against the Church in that time. A short list of the "Great Heresies": The Circumcisers (1st century) Gnosticism (1st and 2nd centuries) Montanism (late 2nd century) Savellianism (early 3rd century) Arianism (4th century) Pelagianism (5th century) Semi-Pelagianism (5th century) Nestorianism (5th century) Monophysitism (5th century) Iconoclasm (7th and 8th centuries) Catharism (11th century) Protestantism (16th century) Jansenism (17th century)
