It is not The Bible that is against human gender as God designed both man and woman to have specific roles in order to work best - similar to the roles of God the Father and God the Son. Teamwork demands each provide their utmost at what is best suited for them in order for the team to walk straight.

The above being said, the problem is in the translational approach - functional or dynamic from the host language to the target language or formal and literal to the same. Consider the term 'Adam' which is obviously male in English but could substitute for mankind as well. Why would some insist upon making this name 'gender sensitive' as it risks dissolving the very creative distinction of gender God built into the creation. Conversely, terms used in context as 'man' would be better translated as mankind or man and woman as the context in the verse indicates both. We should always remember that God created both and He does not exclude or lessen a woman's role. He designed it for a purpose.

There will always be problems in translations. Think of the term 'pneuma' translated as Spirit. It uses male pronouns in the Latin to describe it - hence the arise of the trinity theory. But it should be using 'it' as the proper pronoun. In Russian, the hand/arm is translated 'ryka' and uses a female pronoun. It obviously isn't but translational rules in target languages often require it to. In the long run, it is good for translators to be 'sensitive' but literal in finding the target language equivalent.
