Sabbath is a special day that God set apart right at the creation of the world. (See Genesis 2:2-3) God made it a holy day; a time to rest from the busy activities of the week, and to worship Him.

God reinforced the importance of observing the Sabbath by making it one of the Ten Commandments. (See Exodus 20:8-10)

The Jews and some Christians believe that God's holy law (the Ten Commandments) is unchangeable and it is still important to obey. (See Deuteronomy 11:26-28 and John 14:15) This is why they keep the Sabbath.

Sabbath is a delightful time. Those who observe it according to Scripture do no business during those 24 hours. It is a weekly holiday. The time is used to learn more about God and grow closer to Him, and also to enjoy nature, friends and family.

Can Jewish people use telephone on Saturdays?

Firstly, in this question there is a misunderstanding of the 'day' of the Jewish Sabbath. Saturday is commonly believed among non-Jews to be the Sabbath. This is incorrect. The Jewish days begin at sundown. The Jewish Sabbath begins at the start of the seventh day of the week. Therefore, the Jewish Sabbath begins Friday at sundown and continues until one hour after sundown on Saturday. If one lives in a city where the sun sets at 3 p.m. on Friday, then the Sabbath begins at 3 p.m. on Friday and continues until 4 p.m. Saturday. If the sun sets at noon on Friday...; etc. Now, to answer the question. Jewish people cannot use a phone (to receive a call or to make a call) on the Sabbath. Once the Sabbath has passed, yes, a Jew can use the phone.

Why is there a different day between the Jewish and christian sabbath day?

The Jewish people keep their sabbath on saturday, Christians keep it on Sunday. the day God took rest after creating the world. Roman Emperor Constantine in the 4th century commanded that all must now keep the day of The Sun. He was a sun worshiper. So to please the Romans they merge the two religion. They changed the day of the Sabbath and they introduced the trinity to the religion of Jesus Christ.

Do Protestants believe in the Sabbath day?

Most Protestants, like the Catholic Church, do not follow the Jewish sabbath day as described in the old testament (ie Saturdays). Instead they used the Christian sabbath which is Sunday - the day of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The "Christian sabbath" was never authorized by YHVH. The Sabbath has always been and will always be the 7th day of the week. It's not a "Jewish" sabbath day. It is for everyone to observe. The 4th commandment (as was all of Torah) was given to the twelve tribes of Israel as well as the rest of the world! Read your bible and you will find the verification of this statement! YHVH said emphatically in Isaiah/Yesha'yahu that HE NEVER CHANGES! Neither does his WORD! If you observe any of the unHoly days such as Sunday, Christmas or Easter then you are participating in a pagan festival which YHVH condemned!
