Why is water used in baptism?

water is used because when jesus got baptised he had his hesd immersed under water. and the christian children are dirty and stinky so they need their first and last washes!! heehee

I believe that water is used when you are being baptised because it is pure and clean and when you are being baptised you are being cleaned and purified of all your wrong doings.
