Because some people are spiritual but do not agree with the trappings of religion. Religion is a morality-based set of beliefs and rituals intended to keep people "good". It doesn't have anything to do with the higher aware person who realizes he is an immortal spiritual being responsible for his own ethical choices and survival.

Why do people believe in an afterlife when there's proof we've evolved?

Evolution does not preclude the possibility of an afterlife, so you may choose to believe that we have souls that continue in some kind of afterlife when we die. Many people do believe in an afterlife because it provides comfort to think that loved ones have not merely deceased. However, there is not a scintilla of evidence that there really is an afterlife.

Had most people who had near death experiences and saw the afterlife been believers in the afterlife throughout their lives?

People who have had near death experiences generally report seeing a bright light. While you may believe that this is the light of the afterlife, that is certainly not the only possible explanation, so I would consider it premature at best to conclude that they have seen the afterlife. Scientists have analysed this phenomenon and they believe that a dying brain undergoes a loss of the normal control mechanisms that it has, and will have certain kinds of hallucination as a result. No supernatural explanations are required. And to answer your question, people who tend to draw supernatural conclusions about their own near death experiences are usually people who already believed to some degree in the supernatural. Realistically, almost everyone in the world has been raised in some religious tradition or another. There are very few people who have never been members of any religious group.

Why do some people believe that nothing happens when you die?

Some people believe that nothing happens when you die because they may adhere to certain philosophical or religious beliefs that suggest consciousness ceases to exist after death. Others may subscribe to a scientific viewpoint that suggests there is no evidence of an afterlife or continuation of consciousness beyond death.

Why don't some people believe in the Holy Spirit?

Some people do not have religious views or beliefs. It is not a necessity that a person does. They may not be Christians or do not believe in the doctrine of trinity.

How religious experience help christiams to believe in god?

A religious experience helps Christians to believe in God by affirming the fact that God does exist. For example - if you pray to God and your prayers are answered, you are apt to believe in God more. If you witness what appears to be a miracle, you are more likely to believe in God. If you narrowly escape death or an accident you may believe that God was looking out for you. Talking to other Christians about their religious experience(s) help to confirm the fact that God really does exist. Perhaps a visitation from a dead ancestor may strengthen your belief in an afterlife, thus helping you to believe in God. Many experiences may not be religious in nature, but yet may have overtones that lead you back to a belief in God.

What are the beliefs of a conditionalist regarding the afterlife?

Why do non-religious people not believe in life after death?

.Why do non-skiers not enjoy sliding down snowy mountainsides with long sticks attached to their feet? They don't like skiing. Non-religious people don't believe in life after death because such belief is almost always connected with some form of religious belief and practice. In other words, for many it's part of what comes with being non-religious. Many such people were not born into religious families, and many have decided after considerable thought and experience that religions and the beliefs associated with them are not supportable or useful. In general, non-religious people have not been given, or have not developed, the faith needed to sustain such beliefs. There may be some non-religious people who have some kind of belief in an experience after death. Remember that religion is a practice based on faith, and some who do not practice any religion at all may still have some general beliefs about an afterlife.

Why do people treat people who are atheist differently they're still people it doesn't make them evil?

Well actually, an athiest is someone who does not believe in God. People may treart them differently because of their beliefs and racism is one of them. Religions such as Christianity, Islam, and Judaism say that if you do not believe in God, you will not have a pleasant afterlife and may go to hell.

What do non religious people believe in?

It greatly varies. Some believe in evolution, others believe in a God but not one who wishes to be served. Some non-religious people even believe in reincarnation, though this is rare as most people believing in reincarnation are religious. The most usual alternative to religion is called secular humanism, which asserts that we human beings have our own intrinsic meaning and value, and we should believe in ourselves; we do not need to derive meaning from supernatural beings such as God. There are also some non-religious people who simply do not believe in anything, which is a philosophy called nihilism (from the Latin; nihil means nothing).
