It's not to be understood literally. The number is spiritual representing completeness. Remember the 12 tribes of Israel. Also the 12 apostles.12 x 12 is 144. However The Bible does appear to lean towards a number which could represent the amount God chose to salvation. It is found in revelations 9-16 . If there were ever a number, this 200 million is much more likely to be the number God chose. read your bible and pray always. There is but a short time left.

Answer

They are literally 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes. That's because that's what the Bible tells us it is.

Does the book of Revelation agree or disagree with The Book of Mormon?

This is almost an impossible question to answer because the two books cannot be equally compared. It isn't an "apples to apples" comparison. Most scholars agree that John wrote the Book of Revelation sometime between the year 60 and 90 A.D. The Book of Mormon was mostly written between the years 600 B.C. and 400 A.D. The writers of the Book of Mormon never saw the Book of Revelation and John the Revelator probably didn't even know of the existence of the Book of Mormon peoples. The Book of Mormon authors did, however, know of the existence of John the Revelator and his revelation even before John was born. The Book of Revelation is mentioned twice in the Book of Mormon, in 1 Nephi 14:18-27 (written in 600 B.C.), and in Ether 4:16 (written by Moroni in about 400 A.D.) and John the Revelator is mentioned once in 3 Nephi 28:6 (written in 35 A.D.) [links to read these verses online are provided below under "Related Links"] The Book of Revelation and the Book of Mormon don't particularly agree or disagree with one another because they don't really mention many of the same things. However, if you believe the Book of Mormon is true, you will also believe the Book of Revelation is true. They do not conflict each other, and the Book of Mormon supports a belief in the Book of Revelation.

What are the Christian signs of the Apocalypse in order from the book of Revelation?

It is a misconception but the book of Revelation is NOT about the Apocalypse. It was written by John when Emperor Nero was persecuting the Christians terribly. It is a letter of encouragement for the Christians not to give up hope. But he couldn't have written 'Nero is being a pain, I know' so instead, Nero is alluded to as monsters.

What attracted God to the Apostle John as the recipient of the Revelation?

All we know about the Book of Revelation is that it is signed by 'John', who wrote from the island of Patmos. At some point, the Revelation to John of Patmos was associated with the John's Gospel solely because of the common name. Later still, Christian traditions arose as to how the Apostle John must have found his way to Patmos in order to write the book from there.Because of the association with the Apostle John, Revelation was preserved for posterity and given the status of an apostolic writing. Even so, there were doctors of the church who questioned its authenticity and complained about its theology. The second century Roman teacher, Gaius, called Revelation "heretical" and claimed that it was written by John's worst enemy, Cerinthus. The Church Father, Eusebius, called the Book of Revelation 'spurious'.There were not only serious doubts in the early Church as to the authenticity of Revelation, but we now know from analysis of the text that it was not written by the Apostle John at all.

The writer of Revelation calls himself John. He also declares that he is on the island of Patmos. Why is natural revelation alone insufficient for us to know god fully?

Natural revelation alone is insufficient for us to know God fully because historical conditions and the consequences of Original Sin often diminish our ability to fully know God's truth. This is why Divine Revelation is needed.
