The people who wrote them don't directly tell us, but they most likely wanted us to know what terrible punishments and how badly Jesus suffered to forgive the all the sins of the entire world then and in the future. They wrote every detail so you would know your sins were forgiven at a very costly price, and you know every little bit of how it was paid.

We have four Gospels in the Bible. These Gospels give us the life of Jesus Christ from four slightly different angles. Because Jesus Christ came to earth to die for mankind's sin on the cross of Calvary this portion of the Gospels is very important. This was Jesus' greatest mission for coming to earth. No other person could appease God for the sins of man except Jesus. He was the God/Man, He was sinless, the Messiah that had been predicted to come for centuries before the event actually happened. He was the only one qualified to die for man and He is the only way to heaven, there is no other way. John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by Me."

The bible doesn't have a story in it its more so that their are chapters in it with life lessons you should know. Also these chapters tell of Jesus with his birth all the way to his death and his resurrection that's in the New testament but it was told by his disciples. The old testament tells of law, history, poetry, and prophecy, the old testament was written before the birth of Christ

The very life of Jesus, the preaching of Jesus, the written works themselves.
