Hinduism does not base itself on relics or material objects. That being said there are principals of respect and veneration. These include books, which represent knowledge. Cattle are placed in high regard due to their role in supplying milk and dairy products, which represents a maternal role towards humanity. Primates are also held with respect due to their intelligence and role in Hindu mythology. Another example is the Tulsi plant, due to its references in ancient literature and medicinal properties.
