Both were pre-congregational saints. They died long before there was an official canonization process in place by the Catholic Church. They were proclaimed as saints by popular acclamation shorty after they died.
St. Melania the Elder is the patron saint of Christian monasticism and philanthropy. She is also recognized as a protector against drought and is venerated as a model of selfless service to others.
St. Augustine was not canonized. He is a precongregational saint and was declared a saint by the early Christian community. The official canonization process was not instituted until about the 11th century.
St. Elmo is a pre-congregational saint. In other words, he was declared a saint by popular acclamation. There was no formal canonization process before the 12th century. After that, all saint canonizations had to be investigated and approved by Rome.
St. Colette was canonized in Rome on May 24, 1807 by Pope Pius VII.
St. Monica was declared a saint long before the canonization process that requires miracles was instituted.
St. Michael is an archangel. He was not canonized, he was created by God as an angel, a pure spirit, and saint.
There are several popes named Pius who are saints, others who are in the process of canonization.
