Gerard of Lunel was a saint born in Lunel, France, and was the half - baron of Lunel, along with his grandfather. But after his grandfather passed, he and his brother departed and lived in a cave for two years. The legend of Gerard says that there was a terrible flood and he was trapped in his cave with his brother, and as they faced starvation snakes came across the water and brought them bread. After the flood, the two brothers wept and praised God, then ran across the valley to the nearest church and received communion. Then they went to Rome, visiting churches. But as they left Rome to go to Ancona, Gerard's head hurt him. His brother left him to find help, but as he returned with a doctor Gerard had died.
