She lived and meditated in a garden shack behind her parent's home, raising vegetables and making embroidered items to sell to support her family and help the other poor.

She became a Dominican tertiary in 1606 and was a mystic and visonary. She was gifted with the invisible stigmata (wounds of Christ that could not be seen but caused great pain). Rose suffered from assorted physical and mental ailments. She was the first saint born in the Americas and was the founder of social work in Peru.
