No Christian ( Protestant [for example, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist]) or
Catholic prays to any entity except God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit--the Trinity.
In the Catholic tradition, praying to a priest is not a common practice. Catholics primarily pray to God, Jesus, Mary, and other saints for intercession. In the Pentecostal tradition, believers pray directly to God, emphasizing a personal relationship with Him through the Holy Spirit.
Catholics are not required to pray to saints, but it is a common practice in Catholic tradition to seek the intercession of saints for their prayers. This is based on the belief that the saints can intercede on behalf of individuals before God. Ultimately, prayer in the Catholic faith is directed to God, but saints can serve as intercessors.
Aaron became a priest through a divine appointment by God. In the Old Testament, God selected Aaron, the brother of Moses, to serve as the first high priest of Israel. This appointment was part of God's plan for the organization and rituals of the Israelite priesthood.
Roman Catholics pray 'with' a saint as a form of intercessory prayer, believing that the saints can intercede on their behalf before God. They see saints as powerful intermediaries who can help bring their petitions and prayers to God. This practice is based on the belief in the communion of saints, which connects all the faithful both living and deceased.
Saints are seen as role models of faith and virtue in the Catholic faith. Catholics believe that saints, through their lives and intercessions, can help believers grow closer to God and strengthen their own faith. Saints also serve as examples of how to live a life devoted to God and inspire Catholics to follow in their footsteps.
Catholics build churches in honor of saints as a way to remember their lives and contributions to the faith. They do not worship the saints but venerate them as examples of living a holy life and as intercessors before God. Worship is reserved for God alone in Catholic teachings.
Catholics have to go to the priest, and the priest prays to god on there behalf. Whereas pentecostal people pray directly to God.
No, Catholics do not pray to statues. Catholics pray to God, Jesus, and ask Saints to pray for them.
There are Catholics who are considered Pentecostal, although in the main, this is a protestant phenomenon.
Roman Catholic AnswerFirst of all, Catholics do not "go and pray to that Catholic priest" for forgiveness. They do go to confession to a priest and, if they are sincere, the priest absolves them from their sins, and gives them a penance. It is Our Blessed Lord who actually absolves the sin, through His priests. The reason that Catholics have to do this is because this is the way that God set it up for us. The protestant notion of asking God for forgiveness is okay as far as it goes, all Catholics do that everyday when they make their examen of conscience at the end of the day. But God further specified that to be forgiven, particularly from serious sin (mortal sin) one must go the priest. He mediated His forgiveness through His priests in the Old Testament and continues that in the New Testament.
I am a catholic and we pray in Church to show our respect to God
They Pray to god
The Catholics pray to Saints. They believe they are in heaven with God and pray on our behalf as well.
Certainly, Catholics are required to intercede directly with God. The priest is there as God's chosen emissary. Normally, when God is speaking directly with a person, He is speaking through some means: the Bible, the priest, the Mass, etc.
To maintain a relationship with Him.
Yes, but technically, we confess our sins to God through the priest.
Becaus Catholics aren't Christians. Catholics believe that you have to go through the High Priest to talk to God, they believe that you'll go to purgetory if you do something wrong you didn't confess, and they pray to the saints. Christians, on the other hand, don't believe they need to go through someone else to talk to God (Jesus took care of the sepparation), they believe that if you rely on Jesus to get to heaven then you will go to heaven (no pergetory), and they only pray to God because the saints are only human.
Sure we pray for the Pope. He is the Head of God's Church and the Holy Father of the catholic people.
