We do not know when or how Paul and Peter died, but it is most unlikely that they died on the same day.
A tradition grew up around the supposed martyrdom of Peter after the mid-2nd century pope Anicetus (156-166) said that Peter was beheaded by Nero in Rome. The reason for this claim was that he had became locked in a conflict with the venerable Polycarp of Smyrna. Polycarp had tried to win the argument by insisting that he spoke with the authority of the apostle John. In response, Anicetus told of Peter's beheading and said that he spoke with the authority of Peter. Then in the third century, the Church Father Origen changed the story somewhat, saying that Peter, condemned to crucifixion, felt himself unworthy to be crucified the same way as his Lord, and so chose crucifixion upside down.
In fact, we do not know whether either Peter or Paul was martyred, so we do not know how or when they died.
There is no historical record indicating that St. Paul and St. Peter died on the same day. St. Peter is believed to have been crucified in Rome around 64-68 AD, while St. Paul is said to have been beheaded in Rome around 64-67 AD. Both apostles were martyred during the persecution of Christians under the Roman Emperor Nero.
According to tradition, Saint Paul requested to be crucified upside down because he believed he was not worthy to die in the same manner as Jesus. This act was seen as a gesture of humility and devotion to his faith.
Both Peter and Paul faced persecution and imprisonment for preaching the Bible. Peter was crucified upside down, and Paul was beheaded for spreading the teachings of Christianity. Their dedication and courage in the face of adversity have made them prominent figures in Christian history.
Andrew Simon Peter's brother, Peter, died by crucifixion. According to tradition, Peter was crucified upside down at his own request, as he believed he was not worthy to die in the same manner as Jesus.
