That is definitely not the meaning of the ending of life. If you look in The Bible it says that when god comes he would come riding on a cloud; his angels will take charge. He will also separate the righteous from the unrighteous. The term that god used saying that the world is going to end is that he will call all his children which is us.

[He either actively gave us this means, or he deliberately chose not to withhold it.] We DO have the means, and it is used every day. From a believer's perspective, how else would we possess it? If the deity did not intend for us to have it, we would not. For clarity, 'the means to end life' is the ability to end a life. Having the means does not imply that this is a proper way to end life.
