Opinions on God's existence:

• Yes:

There is no proof needed to have faith. According to the Bible, one must first have faith, then they can see. However, many demand to see first, then they will believe. Therefore, the Bible states, "Fix your eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen" and "live by faith not by sight." So those who refuse to see by faith, will not see God. You may not be able to see the wind, but you can feel its effects. Billions of people worldwide do believe in the existence of God. They feel there has to be a higher power. Believers do not need to have great miracles performed in front of them. They often feel that life itself is a miracle, and that God is all around us. God's creativity is everywhere. It is in the planets, stars, the seas, and in you. Science has its place, but God set it into motion. You do not need evidence to prove God. He proves himself.

God and religion is something created by mankind to give people comfort, or even as a means of control. Without empirical proof, then it's all hypothesis, conjectures and/or wishful thinking. Without empirical proof, god is nothing more then a childhood belief that adults cling to later. A "God" can be compared to the Easter bunny or Santa Claus. There is no miracle worker. Who has really had a religious experience that did not have scientific possibilities? One example that has been given of lack of modern miracles relates back to the Bible. In 1 Kings 18:30, it claims that Elijah was instructed by God to do an experiment to prove God's existence. According to the Bible, Elijah gathered a crowd and put a young bull on an alter. He had the worshipers of Baal call upon him to send fires down and take the sacrifice. After a few hours of no action, Elijah did the same. First though, he poured water all over the wood. When he called upon God, fires came down from the sky. However, what would happen if this experiment was recreated by modern believers? In all likelihood, nothing. Events in the Bible were written decades, and sometimes centuries, after they "occurred." By then the stories were nothing more then myths or fables.

There is no evidence to suggest that a god exists; science has no proof of the existence of God, although many question whether science encompasses the totality of 'reality'. Religious belief is something which you are entirely free to explore yourself, as is everyone else. First you should ask yourself what you think 'God' might be.

• There has been much argument about the existence of God. One problem with arguments in favour of the existence of God, is that exactly the same arguments can be used to prove the existence of Brahma or any other god. So, whether or not God exists is a matter of faith, and faith alone.

• There are many reasons why people believe but there is no evidence to suggest that a god exists.

• There is no scientific evidence that God exists. The only evidence we have is the religious scriptures that consistently provide accurate information as well as our illogical opinions. Many say that the fact that anything exists at all is proof for God, but that is not true either because that falls into the "fallacy of the first cause" which has been disproved.

• God's existence cannot really be proven by science, as it is a matter of believing in a deity or deities. Also, you cannot convince somebody else that God exists. That is why I don't bother proving God's existence, even though I'm a creationist (I believe there is no point in doing so).

• It's all about religion. You can believe what you want.

• The existence of God cannot be proved or disproved.

• That is a very complex question and the answer you get will depend on whom you ask. Many people believe that God exists and some people do not. In the scientific sense there is no evidence for God but nearly all cultures around the world have some form of religion, which some people cite as proof of the existence of some kind of God. However in the book The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins (a well-known biologist and atheist) it is postulated that religion appears in all cultures because all people have a subconscious need to believe in a God or that it is a incidental manifestation of something more necessary such a the need to follow authority when you are a child.

• This question cannot be answered. It has not been proven yet. As a christian, I believe in God. Some people believe in god differently like Catholics or Jews. And that's only two religions! There are many more! Some religions don't even believe believe in God. Atheists for example, they don't believe. That's fine with me because I want to respect what everyone has to offer, believe, and do in this world. I want to make this answer fair to everyone so I give you this. I'm not going to say: Yes sir/ma'am! God is as real as you! Because you need more info. I hope no one was offended or angered by this answer, since I respect everyone's opinions/beliefs. • I love that answer, and want to add that we can find out for ourselves if there is a God through prayer. He can and will answer us if we go to Him faithfully and sincerely. We can recognize His answer when we feel an unexplainable peace and calm through His holy spirit. He will not allow science to prove that He exists because then there would be no need for faith, and that is a key part in our whole purpose of life.

• I am a Christian so yea... I believe that God is real. But no one can tell you what you believe... If you want to form your own opinion, research it. You don't have to listen to what the world is telling you. Listen to your heart.

• It is impossible to know the answer as a fact and it depends on your definition of God. There are many religions with many gods. Who's right? They all can't be right. Primitive cultures worshiped volcanoes, or the sun, or the moon, etc., things they did not understand. They were their god(s). The real question might be "Did god create man, or did man create god?". Your options are: there is a god, there may be a god, or there is no god. Whatever gives you peace, is the correct answer for you. It is called freedom of religion. Everyone has the right to have an opinion, no matter how right or wrong it is. However you do not have a right to force your opinion on someone else, no matter how right you think you are. I suggest you rent the DVD "Religious". I found it to be informative and entertaining. Depending on your beliefs, it may even tick you off. I hope you find your peace.

Actually, it is not really that simple. It could be that there really is a God and whether or not you believe in god or not has nothing to do with god's realness.

there is no scientific evidence that God exists. I check everywhere for like a hour and the religious people could not prove it without using the word Bible. The reason for confusion in religion is the fact that people were told that god really does exist since the were born. The main argument in my mind is the fraze in the bible (yes even though I don't believe in God, I've read the bible a little) that say "Then god sent down Adam and Eve" but that's not true, there IS scientific evidence that the earth was all water BEFORE us and the was approximately 4 billion 600 million year in between the formation of the earth and our existence. That's a little to long for me. But just like the fist answer its up to you. I'm just bringing you what I found.

3) Sensus divinitatus: The innate sense of the divine exists within all people. People and cultures of all time have, by instinct, sensed a need to believe in and worship something greater than themselves. No ancient society ever existed that did not believe in a supernatural power.

4) Tradition: There are historical events which cannot be explained without God. Many people have had personal experiences that turn them toward theism, but there are also historical events such as the Giving of the Torah to over two million people at Mount Sinai, which are underpinnings for the belief in God.

5) Pascal's Wager: Belief in God is the most rational choice due to the consequences of being wrong. If one were to believe in God and be wrong, there would be no consequences. However, if one were to deny God and be wrong, the consequences are eternally tragic. Therefore, the most rational choice is not agnosticism or atheism, but belief in God.

6) Logic. Why is there reality rather than nothing? Aside from God's creating it, there are only five options:
a) The universe is eternal and everything has always existed.
- Even atheists have abandoned this possibility, especially because it would violate the Second Law of Thermodynamics.

b) Nothing exists and all is an illusion. There is no reality; there is only nothing.
- This possibility, it should be obvious, is completely self-defeating. In order to even make such a proposition, the subject has to exist in some sense. If all is an illusion, where did the illusion come from? Even the solipsist, who does not believe in the existence of other minds, has to explain the genesis of his own mind.

c) The universe created itself. This is the idea that the universe and all that is in it did not have its origin in something outside itself, but from within.
- Like with the previous two, this makes a logical absurdity. It would be like creating a square triangle. It's impossible. A triangle by definition cannot be square. So creation cannot create itself as it would have to pre-date itself in order to create.

d) Chance created the universe. The odds of winning the lottery are not very good; but given eons of time, everyone will win. While the odds of the universe spontaneously appearing are not minuscule, could it happen, given enough time?

- This option is a dishonest sleight of hand that, like "survival of the fittest," amounts to nothing, because it implies that "chance" itself has quantitative causal power.
