Passover
Passover is the feast that celebrates the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt. It commemorates the Israelites' liberation from slavery and their journey to freedom led by Moses. During Passover, a Seder meal is held where specific foods and prayers are shared to retell the story of the exodus.
The long journey during which Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt and back to Canaan is known as the Exodus.
Moses led the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt as described in the Old Testament of the Bible. He received the Ten Commandments from God and guided his people through the wilderness for 40 years in search of the Promised Land.
The biblical account does not suggest that any Hebrew slaves remained in Egypt at the time of the Exodus. From a historical perspective there was no biblical Exodus from Egypt, according to over 90 per cent of scholars. Therefore a historian would not say whether any Hebrew slaves stayed in Egypt in the Exodus story.
