Sujood al-tilawah is performed by making a separate, brief prostration after reciting a verse requiring the prostration in the Quran. After reciting the verse in prayer, say Allahu Akbar and make prostration, then return to the standing position. It is a way to express humility and gratitude to Allah for the guidance in the Quran.
