It was 50 days, because Jesus was crucified on the Passover and Pentecost is 50 days after that. This is important because the Jewish feast of Pentecost included the offering of two loaves of unleavened bread representing the first fruits of the harvest (see Lev. 23:17-20 , Deut. 16:9-10), Jesus is the First Fruit of the Harvest, and Pentecost in the Christian Church is also the anniversary of the coming of the Holy Spirit (see Acts 2).

Pentecost is celebrated 50 days after the resurrection of Christ. Pentecost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus as described in the Book of Acts, Chapter 2 in the New Testament. For this reason, Pentecost is sometimes described as "the Church's birthday".

About 10 Days. Resurrection Morning occurred on the Feast of First Fruits. Pentecost was seven weeks later. That's why it's sometimes called the Feast of Weeks. The actual dates of both were established by counting from the first Sabbath after Passover. First Fruits was the first day after the Sabbath and Pentecost was the 50th day, so there were only 49 days between First Fruits and Pentecost. It would seem that it is 50 total days between the resurrection and Pentecost, but there are really only 49. That's why I say about 10 days between the ascension and Pentecost.

He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days… (Acts 1:3)

10 days to Pentecost = 50days, but from the resurrection we know it's really only 49, so the 40 days Jesus walked the earth and the 10 days between the ascension and Pentecost have overlapping evenings and nights. The same type of mathematical dating issues are found in dating the reigns of the kings of Israel and Judah in the Old Testament. It has to do with overlapping evenings and coregencies.

How long after Pentecost was Stephen stoned to death?

Acts ofthe Apostles tells us that Pentecost occurred fifty days after the resurrection of Jesus, but is unclear as to exacly when Stephen was stoned to death. However, it is quite possible that neither event was really historical. The Jews had celebrated a Pentecost since the second century BCE and there are parallels of timing and content between the Jewish Pentecost and the story of the Christian Pentecost, which seems to have been inspired by the Jewish Pentecost. Also, Raymond E. Brown (An Introduction to the New Testament) says that we can never verify the martyrdom or even existence of Stephen. With both events unlikely to have really happened, there is no real answer to this question.
