40 days & nights
The long journey during which Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt and back to Canaan is known as the Exodus.
Abraham had Isaac who had Jacob who changed his name to Israel and he had 12 sons, which formed the house of Israel. One of his sons, Joseph, was sold into Egypt by his brothers because Jacob showed more love towards Joseph than to his other sons. Joseph became a ruler in Egypt after interpreting Pharaoh's dream and made Egypt great and powerful during a famine. Joseph was then able to bring his family into Egypt where they were later used as slaves. Then Moses came a long from one of the tribes of Israel and after a bunch of miracles Moses frees his people and he puts Joshua in charge of the military operations.
The Ark itself, built by the craftsman Bezalel, was a small box made of acacia wood and overlaid with gold. It measured 1.15 metres long, 0.7 metres wide and 0.7 metres high. It was carried by two long bars, also made of acacia wood overlaid with gold.
The ten commandments are laws that God gave us and each one should be obeyed.here they are:1 "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me. 2 "You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My Commandments. 3 "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain. 4 "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. 5 "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you. 6 "You shall not murder. 7 "You shall not commit adultery. 8 "You shall not steal. 9 "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. 10"You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's."
What would Western society look like without these Commandments? 1) "I am the Lord your God..." has shaped the Western beliefs about God. Pantheism and polytheism, which were excuses for immorality, are out. 2) The 7-day week, including a day of rest for everyone, is thanks to the Fourth Commandment. 3) Without the Fifth Commandment, society might still permit abandoning our aged parents to die. 4) Without the Sixth Commandment, we might still be killing our own children. Aristotle, who was among the greatest of the Greeks, and Seneca, the famous Roman, both write that killing one's young babies is perfectly acceptable; and that was the practice in their societies. The above are just a few examples.
A matter of months.
it was said that moses talked to god for 40 years so it means the commandments take 40 years to make P.S it was NOT said in the bible
Moses spent a total of 80 days and nights on the mount with God. The first 40 days was when God wrote out the original 10 commandments, then Moses was told to go down the mount as the children of Israel was making a golden calf. Shortly after this Moses went up the mount again for another 40 days and nights for the second (replacement) set of Ten Commandments. This can be found in the Book of Exodus.
Exodus 34: 28 And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights: he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.
According to the Cecil B. DeMille epic movie titled "The Ten Commandments", neither. Eyewitnesses are long since passed.
Jewish tradition holds that they were delived to the Hebrews by moses or moshe (משה). Modern Jewish scholarship suggests that they had a long oral tradition among the people prior to being written down.
A:Yes. The Ten Commandments are found in the book of Exodus, written some two centuries before the Babylonian Exile and based on even older oral legends about Moses.
Three months (Exodus ch.2).
long
Moses did not tell people that. God told them. The Ten Commandments were spoken by God to the entire assembled nation of the Israelites at Mount Sinai (Exodus ch.19-20), and honoring one's parents is one of these Commandments. Honoring one's parents has many reasons. Two of them are: to help hold the family together, and to make it possible for the parents to teach the traditions to the next generation.
moses lived to be 120 years old
Moses spent 40 years in the wilderness.
