There are more than 200 ecclesiastical jurisdictions (dioceses) in the Church of God in Christ (COGIC). There are more than 170 domestic jurisdictions within the United States and at least 35 foreign jurisdictions. In addition to being located in every state in the Union, COGIC churches are found in more than 57 countries around the world. Each jurisdiction is under the direct administration of a bishop. Most jurisdictions are further divided into districts which are comprised of local COGIC congregations. There are more than 15,000 COGIC congregations around the world.

The founder of the Church Of God In Christ, Bishop Charles Harrison Mason ordained and commissioned three white men to begin ministering to other white members the message of holiness and the Holy Spirit. Because of the "Jim Crow" laws of the time many white did not feel comfortable worshipping with blacks. Bishop Mason gave the direction for these brothers in the faith to start ministering until came when we all could worship together as one body.

The forms of worship between the Apostolic and COGIC are similar. The Apostolics believe in baptism in the name of Jesus only (not Father, Son, Holy Ghost like COGIC), and believe the evidence of infilling of the Holy Ghost is only by speaking in tongues (different than COGIC).

Yes, Lord! is the hymnal used by the Church of God in Christ. It was published in 1985 by the COGIC Publishing Board under the leadershp of Bishop J.O. Patterson, Sr.
Usually, they are assistants to the ministry itself, whether its conducting the church's official business, maintenance and upkeep. Just as any other denominational trustee is, the only difference in COGIC is the doctrine and ordinances.
