AnswerSome scholars say that the Book of Isaiah was written by two authors, now known as First Isaiah and Second Isaiah. Others, possibly a minority, say that there were three authors, and add Third Isaiah as well.

First Isaiah, whom we know as the Isaiah who signed his work in verse 1:1, wrote during the reigns of Kings Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah of Judah. This places First Isaiah around 2,700 years ago.

There was then a break of over a hundred years before an anonymous author, now known as Second Isaiah decided to add new material to the by-then ancient book, during the Babylonian Exile. Whether he is the same author who continued to write during the early years after the Return from Exile is uncertain. Overall, Second Isaiah (and Third Isaiah) wrote for some decades, but the total is open to debate. They lived around 2,500 years ago.

Who is Isaiah Santiago's mother?

How did Jesus fulfill Isaiah's prophesy?

A:The prophet Isaiah never mentioned Jesus, either by name or in any way by which Jesus could be identified. He did not write any prophecy that Jesus fulfilled or could fulfill. There is a well known passage in most Christian Bibles at Isaiah 7:14 that is a supposed prophecy that Jesus would be born of a virgin, but Isaiah never wrote that passage, at least not as we generally read it. The passage, used by the author of Matthew, comes from the Septuagint, a flawed early Greek translation of the Hebrew scriptures, which says, "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." What the prophet Isaiah wrote was, "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, the young woman shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." The young woman in question did have a child just a few verses later in Isaiah's book.

Who visited Mary before Jesus birth?

After Jesus' birth in Bethlehem, the shepherds were the first to visit him, according to the New Testament. The angels announced the birth to the shepherds, who then went to see Jesus in the manger.

Did the prophet Isaiah foretell the future?

A:Not really. An example of Isaiah appearing to fortell the future is in Isaiah 7:14: "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, the young woman shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." A few verses later, the young woman did indeed have a baby. But bear in mind that the 'prophecy' and its fulfilment both had to have happened before Isaiah wrote his book. To really say Isaiah had truly fortold this birth, we should have proof that he wrote this passage down before the young woman even became pregnant. There is another version of the same passage that comes from the Septuagint, a flawed, early Greek translation of the Hebrew scriptures. In this version, Isaiah 7:14 says, "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." This has been read to be a prophecy of Jesus, although it does not actually mention him. In this case, we should remember that Isaiah never wrote 'virgin' in this passage.

Why is Isaiah called the Fifth Gospel?

More than any other book of the Old Testament, the Book of Isaiah has been interpreted by Christians in an attempt to find evidence that it foresaw the coming of Jesus. Numerous passages of Isaiah have been assigned meanings considered consistent with the New Testament. These include the claim that Isaiah 7:14 prophesied the birth of a virgin and therefore, presumably, of Jesus, the Servant Songs, which now are seen as referring to Jesus, and many others.Christians sometimes refer to the the Book of Isaiah because of the allusions to Jesus that they find within it.

Why was Jesus of Nazareth identified with the God of Israel?

Jesus of Nazareth was the Son of Jehovah the God Israel. Furthermore, the birth of Jesus had been foretold by the old testament Prophet Isaiah; in the book of Isaiah 7:14. Did a virgin give birth in Isaiah's time?

No, a virgin did not give birth in Isaiah's time, nor did Isaiah even prophesy that a virgin would give birth. In the Hebrew Bible, Isaiah 7:14 said that "the young woman" would give birth, and the young woman in question did have a child a few verses later in Isaiah. However, the Septuagint (An early translation of the Hebrew Bible into the Greek language) incorrectly translated this to say that "a virgin" would conceive and bear a child. The author of the Gospel of Matthew relied on this mistranslation to show that it was prophesied that Jesus would be born of a virgin.

What kind of prophecies is Isaiah noted for concerning Christ?

Seven centuries before Jesus' birth, Isaiah prophesied about him: "There has been a child born to us, there has been a son given to us; and the princely rule will come to be upon his shoulder." (Isaiah 9:6) Why did Isaiah indicate that Jesus' birth and subsequent role would be so significant? Because Jesus would become a mighty ruler. He would be called Prince of Peace, and there would be no end to peace or to his princely rule. Furthermore, Jesus' rulership would be sustained "by means of justice and by means of righteousness." (Isaiah 9:7) Humans tend to look down on people of little means, even if these poor ones have performed noble deeds. This was true in Jesus' case. Isaiah prophesied about him: "He was despised and was avoided by men, a man meant for pains and for having acquaintance with sickness." (Isaiah 53:3)

How many years from 740 bc when Isaiah prophesied in 740bc to the birth of jesus in 1 bc?

It is 739 years from 740 bc to 1 bc. However, Isaiah never really prophesied the birth of Jesus. And if Jesus was born during the reign of King Herod it must have been before 4 bc, since Herod died in April 4 bc.

When did Isaiah write Isaiah 714?

Isaiah's ministry lasted approximately 55 years, from about 739 B.C. to 686 B.C. We don't know the exact date of this prophecy, but King Ahaz was ruling. His rule was from 742 B.C. to 746 B.C. So the prophecy of the virgin birth was over 700 years before the virgin birth of Jesus.
