when a person attributes to a fleshly desire greater might than they themselves have, or they surrender their will to this desire whether it be material or sexual in nature than this desire can become a god. In The Bible book Philippians 3:18,19. Paul speaks of certain one that had left the faith in order to venerate false gods. It mentions that ones god can be their belly, meaning that gluttony, and perhaps even excessive drunkenness can lead to idolatry which is the worship of false gods. Paul also mentions here that seeking ones self glory can lead to shame and another form of idolarty--that of selfworship. see also 1 Tim 6:9 and Matthew 5:27&28

Why does pride break the tawhid?

Because pride is the root of all evil thought, word, emotion and deed; it is the essence of separateness, and thus of duality. When pride is fulfilled, it says to its enslaved listener, 'You are better, more powerful, more beautiful, more intelligent, more worthy, more humble (etc. - the list is endless), and reinforces separateness; separateness from your neighbour becomes separateness from God, separateness from God sets up an idol in His place. When pride is denied (when one sees that another is better, richer, more beautiful - etc. -) one's very identity, self-respect, is threatened; pride becomes fear, fear becomes hatred, hatred begets separateness, separateness reverences division, and another new idol is created.

What does Romans 81-10 mean?

In verses 1-4, Paul is explaining how the ransom sacrifice of Jesus released humanity from the Law of Moses, and instead gave us the ability to serve God through the law of the Spirit. Jesus did what imperfect humans were unable to do, which is to perfectly fulfill the Law given to Moses. Imperfect humans were unable to fulfill the law because they would sin, or give into the desires and weaknesses of the flesh. Since God sent his Son into a human's body, that has the same limits of the flesh, and Jesus was able to remain perfectly loyal to God, Jesus thus fulfilled the requirements of the law. Jesus proved that a fleshly human with free will, could indeed stay completely loyal to God and thus redeemed us all.In verses 5-8, Paul is stating instructions to set our minds on the things of God's holy spirit and not on our own fleshly desires. He says that those who set their minds, or their thoughts, on the desires of our flesh, we will end up sinning and that leads to enmity with God. But if we set our minds on the spirit, we will live in accordance with the spirit, which will lead to life and peace.

Why do people ask more of God rather than thanking him?

most people ask more of God than thank him is because they don't raelly understand what God id all about. God is here for us, he even sais that he will fufill the desires of our hearts, but the desires of our hearts have to be pure, and, u can ask God for something u want, but he really knows what's best 4 u. When you truly understand who God is, and have a close relationship w/ him, them material things will not be the desires of your heart. instead the desires of your heart would be something like seeing God face 2 face, or that someone you love would have their prayers answered. God's Blessings!
