Religion was taught to Adam and Eve by God in the Garden of Eden, and taught further in the world after their expulsion from the Garden. Their descendants made their own decisions about what they wanted to believe. After The Flood, the descendants of Noah also made their own decisions, leading to the great variety of religions present on the earth today, but religion stems from the original religion taught to Adam and Eve.

Another Perspective

It probably found its beginnings with the first hominid who fell to his knees in shock, fear and awe, wondering how he could somehow appease the "higher power" that caused the lightening strike that killed his companion. Religion is older than The Bible.

Religion likely emerged as a way for early humans to make sense of natural phenomena, social structures, and the mysteries of life. Over time, belief systems and rituals evolved to provide explanations for the unknown and a sense of connection to something greater than oneself. Religion also helped foster community cohesion and moral codes among groups of people.
